Rainer Ammer studied production technology and organisation at the University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Austria. After graduating in 2014, he worked as a research associate at the metallurgical competence centre K1-Met GmbH, before joining voestalpine Stahl GmbH as a research engineer in 2018. In addition to his expertise in primary metallurgy, Rainer is a project member for the construction of the electric arc furnace in Linz. Within the research and development department of voestalpine Stahl GmbH, he has been responsible for co-ordinating research activities in the field of steel production as process owner since April 2024.
