The rolling mill for the production of high-quality wire rod, inaugurated in 2021, represents the technological forefront developed by Danieli. Designed according to a “zero-man-on-the-floor” concept and strongly focused on Industry 4.0 solutions, the plant features a 360° control room, a fully automated warehouse, more than 160 cameras, and over two thousand sensors.
The Saturno-QWR line stands out for its high operational flexibility, enabling the minimization of set-up and size changeover times, while ensuring efficiency and production continuity.
The facility is further enhanced by a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, including a high-efficiency walking-beam furnace and a water treatment system equipped with patented filtration technology.
ABS Acciaierie Bertoli Safau was founded in 1988 in Cargnacco through the merger of two highly experienced and qualified steelworks: “Officine Bertoli,” established in 1813, and “Safau.” With a turnover of approximately one million euros and around 1,400 employees, ABS represents the Steelmaking division of the Danieli Group.
The company’s production and headquarters are located in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, with an additional manufacturing plant in Croatia (ABS SISAK), a research center in Metz (ABS Centre Métallurgique), as well as commercial offices in Germany, Sweden, and Spain.
ABS specializes in the production of special long steels and offers a unique range worldwide in terms of both quality and product variety. Production is entirely based on the scrap cycle, using 95% recycled raw materials.
ABS Acciaierie is committed to an ambitious industrial and ESG plan aimed at increasing market share and reducing carbon intensity by 30% by the year 2030.
