Chairman at Smart Factory Focus Group, ESTEP
Costanzo Pietrosanti graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering in 1978 in the University of Rome “La Sapienza” remaining for one year as Assistant Professor in Machine Design. In June 1979 he entered in Centro Sviluppo Materiali SpA (CSM), the Italian R&D center for the steel sector. From 1983 to 1987 he moved to the aerospace industry, coming back to CSM (now RINA-CSM) in 1987 spending twenty-eight more years in steel processing R&D, technology transfer and application engineering. In 1992 he become Department Director for process modelling and simulation, automation & process control, ICT architectures and system integration for steel manufacturing, acquiring deep experience in Industry 4.0 issue of which he is one of the forerunners in Italy
He retired in 2015 and now he is Contract Professor in the University of Rome “La Sapienza” leading the Laboratory of Digital Technology for Mechanical Engineering after four years teaching Mechanical Design. He is also industrial consultant, representing Danieli Automation SpA in the ESTEP where he is the Chairman of the ESTEP Smart Factory Focus Group of which he was co-founder in 2007.
